Molecular Interaction and Simulation Studies of Inhibitors for Endothelin-1 Receptors

Abstract


High altitude cerebral edema (HACE) is a life threatening severe form of acute mountain sickness (AMS) which causes headache, unbalanced gait, behavioral changes, and altered mental status. It also carries features like hallucinations or coma, as well as a variety of neurological deficits. Prevention of edema fluid formation with minimal side effects remains to be discovered. Endothelin-1 receptors were found to be involved in the pathogenesis of HACE. Due to the elevated level of Endothelin-1(ET-1), cerebral edema levels increase. In the present study, the authors have identified possible interactions of seven spirodihydro benzofuranlactam derivatives with the two endothelin-1 receptors A and B.
