Prodrugs and Its Types

Abstract


In this study, description of prodrugs is given. Prodrugs are biologically inactive agents that upon biotransformation in vivo result in active drug molecules. Inactive prodrugs are pharmacologically inactive medications that are metabolized into an active form within the body. Depending upon the functional group, used to design the produrg, present in the parent drug, the pro drugs can be classified so many ways, which are given in this study.
