Abstract

The objective of this study was to find the effect of inhibitive distraction (ID) in reducing the pain status, improve the functional ability and proprioception of subjects with cervical spondylosis (CS). Participants were selected from Kanti Swasthya Kendra, Birpur, Bihar. A total of 30 subjects were recruited for the study on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria after signing the informed consent form. Pain status, cervical flexion ROM, propriception and functional ability were the parameters considered for the study. The pain intensity was assessed using visual analog scale (VAS) and the functional ability was assessed using neck disability index (NDI). After the treatment period, group-A, who received ID, scored significantly higher on all the parameters when analyzed using independent t-test at p < 0.05. ID had the upper hand in reducing the pain status and reducing the NDI scores thereby improving the functional ability, ROM of the neck in patients with CS.
