Spontaneous Popliteal Arteriovenous Fistula Presenting as Gangrene Foot

An arteriovenous fistula (AVF) of the popliteal artery is a rare condition, mainly to be seen in relation to trauma to the knee in road traffic accidents, firearm injuries and stab wounds. In this article a case report is presented of a 50 year old female admitted with complaints of blackish discoloration of right foot and prominent veins on lower limb. Gangrenous changes of limb involved up to lower leg in next 2 days. A decision to do knee amputation was taken.
