The extractability, physical, chemical and TLC characteristics of Indrajava and Kumari thailam present in Psorolin medicated bathing bar was studied using different solvents. Di ethyl ether has yielded 12% of free oil present in the bathing bar and the physical, chemical and TLC characteristics of the free oil present in Psorolin medicated bathing bar was matched with the above characteristics of Kumari thailam and Indrajava thailam irrespective of the age the medicated bathing bar from which they were extracted. Findings of the presence of ‘free state’ of the oil (combination of Indrajava thailam and kumari thailam) and its well preserved characteristics clearly suggest Psorolin bathing bar to be clinically effective and useful in the treatment of Psoriasis.
