Abstract

Sleep is an inevitable need which relaxes the body and prepares for further work. It maintains health, helps to extend life span and delay the onset of diseases especially in elderly people. Sleeplessness increases with age due to increment in Khilte Sawda. Sleeplessness leads to stress, fatigue, anxiety, excessive Tahalul and also reduces immunity thus it exerts detrimental effects on health. Also insomnia is one of the important risk factors of hypertension. So, we should pay due consideration to the health of elderly.
