Case Study of Drug Resistance Tuberculosis Treated with Ayurvedic Medicines
Abstract
Drug resistance tuberculosis has been identified as greatest challenge to medical science, there is steep rise in incidence of MDR (multiple drug resistance Koch’s), XDR (extreme drug resistance Koch’s) and CDR (complete drug resistance Koch’s) in last decade. The disease has debilitating characteristic thus management ought to attend strength of body tissue. Increasing resistance of drugs may be due to infection by resistant strain Koch’s bacilli which may not be denatured by conventional antibiotics treatment. These medicines had been known to produce untoward effect especially on symbiotic bacilli that alters digestion and metabolism. Thus use of antibiotics alone may not be helpful. Ayurvedic treatment is primarily improves body’s own host defense mechanism, the disease in Ayurvedic science is known as Kshya so Brihana (treatment that increase strength and mass of body) is done. Author has treated two cases of drug resistance tuberculosis in which improvement is observed. The details of the cases are presented in the full article.
