Physiotherapy Interventions in Prostate Cancer in the North-Eastern India Especially in Assam: A Review

Abstract


A growing body of evidence indicates potential benefit of exercise in Cancer patients but a little is known about exercise promotion in cancer services. The study is based on the Physiotherapy interventions in the prostate cancer patients in North-east India based on the samples, population studied and treatment plans in Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati, Assam. The main objective of the study was to make the people of India especially North-East India to be aware regarding the Prostrate cancer and promotion of importance and rule of Physiotherapy treatment in the prostate cancer rehabilitation process. By working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Physiotherapist’s core skills – especially their ability to set realistic goals and their patient-centred, problem solving approach - can help people adapt to their changing condition. The Physiotherapist’s role is to anticipate and prepare for potential disease progression and to facilitate and support independence and successful discharge from the acute sector for the patient and their careers.
