Pre-peritoneal Mesh Repair of Spontaneous Superior Lumbar Hernia: A Case Report

Abstract


The lumbar hernias are rare variety of hernia. They arise more commonly from superior lumbar triangle than inferior lumbar triangle. It can be readily misdiagnosed as one of the commoner diseases like lipoma. Its diagnosis requires high clinical suspicion and can be confirmed by imaging. The treatment is elective surgery with meshplasty. Here we present a case of spontaneous superior lumbar hernia treated with preperitoneal polypropylene meshplasty at our hospital. The patient is on follow-up with no evidence of recurrence.
