Amber Stones-assisted Water Extraction of Cloves Antioxidants: A Novel Procedure
Keywords:
Amber, cloves, antioxidantsAbstract
Amber is a natural substance that has the ability to absorb negative energies and transmute them into positive forces. This study is aimed to explore the natural electromagnetic property of amber stones on the antioxidant constituents of Syzygium aromaticum (cloves) extracted by distilled water. This in vitro study was done in Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine and Department of Biology, College of Science at Al-Mustansiriya University in Baghdad, Iraq. Hydro-distilled extracts (1%) of S. aromaticum (cloves) flower buds were prepared by simple distillation in presence or absence of amber stones. Physiochemical properties including UV-Visible spectra, and total flavanols, flavanoids and bioflavanoids of each extract were determined. The results showed that amber stones altered the physiochemical properties of extracted cloves solutions and the peak absorbance at λ 205 nm was less than that extract without amber stone. Using amber stone in cloves extraction resulted in increase in the levels of total flavonols, flavanoids and bioflavanols by 1.5–2 folds. It concludes that the use of amber stone in extraction of medicinal plants provides a simple method that results in extracting higher levels of antioxidants
