Abstract

Aromatic hydrocarbons, the products of the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels are ubiquitous in nature. Some of these chemicals are of environmental concern because of their genotoxic, carcinogenic potential and their persistence in the environment and are degradable by the microorganisms. The need for more ecotoxicological data encourages the use of QSARs because of the reduction of (animal) testing, time and cost. In this paper, QSARs were attempted for aromatic hydrocarbons to estimate the toxicity of these chemical compounds, their impact on the aquatic organisms and calculated the rate of biodegradation
