Preparation and Characterization of Fenofibrate Freeze-Dried Crystals
Abstract
The present research work was aimed to prepare fenofibrate freeze-dried crystals using poloxamer by freeze-drying technique. Fenofibrate crystals containing poloxamer were prepared by freeze drying using acetone and water as solvent system. The prepared formulations containing drug and poloxamer were evaluated for solubility and in-vitro dissolution. The prepared formulations were characterized by DSC, FT-IR, XRD and SEM. Dissolution profile of the prepared freeze-dried crystals was compared with its physical mixture and pure sample. The solubility and dissolution of prepared freeze-dried crystals was increased than the commercial fenofibrate sample and physical mixture crystals. Consequently, from the above results it can be concluded that freeze-dried crystal is a useful technique to improve the solubility and dissolution of poor water-soluble drug like fenofibrate.
